20/20 Bailouts & Bull**** Part 6 of 6 - Ehrenreich

I wasn't able to post the actual video in the post, but this was an interesting video I found about the current Recession and the Middle Class. At one point they interview Ehrenreich and a guy criticizes her about her book.

  1. This is an interesting video . . . at the same time, for a young, white male with no children who's able to get physically demanding work that pays well is, I think, not really representative of what most working class people go through . . .

  3. Yeas I would like to contradict this book Nickel and Dimed but I am not saying that Ehrenreich is wrong on that she states in her book but based on my personal opinion I think if we want to move on and get a better life we need to have ambition in life work hard and I am 100% sure someone will give us the opportunity to move on. Look my uncle he came to this country when he was 20 selling all his stuffs his country. He didn’t have family here. After a week he started working in construction as helper now today he has his own company and three houses if I’m not wrong.. so I think all we have to do is work hard and don’t get distract with the easy life and don’t let the governments programs put money on your packet. ,,,,, I don’t know but if someone thinks the contrary is allowed to follow up this blog….

  4. See, I don't think it's an either/or . . . we can believe in working hard, and have a lot of admiration for people who struggle and get ahead. At the same time, we can recognize that companies like Wal-Mart do things that are unfair that stop more people from getting ahead.

Also, we have to look at the big picture: some people have managed to do well, but *overall* the gap between rich and poor has been growing for the last 30 years and real wages have gone down. You'll notice that Stossel didn't have any statistics to back up his ideas.
